Boy, what a February! The record breaking snowfall amounts in Massachusetts, NH and Maine have made new records and have crippled the MBTA in Boston. My boss in Boston and the boss from NJ ok'd for us to work from home due to the inclement conditions. During the down time, I focused on new activities in the fiber arts, quilting, sewing and design. I have also read the popular book "Fifty Shades of Gray". Fifty Shades was an extremely easy read, one hot and steamy story. I actually read the book in a day and half - a first for me. The book certainly spiced-up Valentines Day for Richie and I. I am now reading the first book in the series of "Game of Thorns", which is expertly written. The complete opposite from Fifty Shades (lol). Below are my projects that I have dabbled in. Learning sewing has been very fun and challenging. I have also learned how to sew with yarn for boarders in an applique technique. My new inspiration artist is Rose Hughes. Rose an amazing mid-western fiber artist. She must have been inspired by Georgia O'Keefe - I can see it in her artwork. Please see her link http://www.rosehughes.com/ Below are the pictures of the projects I created in the past month. I almost forgot! I also did some painting. I normally work with oils, but I wanted to try acrylics for the first time. I did ok, but I prefer my oils and I also like watercolor for illustrations and 2-d graphics. Below are the pics of my paintings.

Day 1 - Dr. Phil 20/20 diet, now that the holiday foods are gone.Ok, heels are dug in and my mind is ready for reality. Yesterday was the last of the yummy cake from Dutch Kitchen and last of the Mexican food. As I have mentioned on Facebook earlier, I purchased the Dr. Phil 20/20 Diet book and have already read half of the book, in order to begin the new lifestyle. Let me say, it is nothing like anything that I have been on before. Dr. Phil gets into the psychology of what is in your mind, along with eating correctly to help correct your blood sugar and metabolism. The surveys and questions help clear past problems and wrong thoughts that are embedded in your brain.
Today is the first of the first five days - Phase 1. There are only certain foods you can eat. I decided to begin the day with his breakfast shake. I had doubts until it really worked - I was not hungry until 4.5 hours later. He said that one should eat every 4 hours and journal your thoughts along the way. He is big on the journal! The day before one begins the plan, there are surveys and questions that you have to answer along with journaling everything you put in your mouth along with the feeling and emotion of why you ate that. This is starting point. I really hope this time this works for me. Dr. Phil says it will not be easy and this should be a lifestyle change. He focuses on power, super natural foods that is void of sweetners and salt. Richie even had the breakfast shake with me and he agreed that it held him over until 5 hours later for lunch. I had no idea that Dr. Phil is a diabetic and there are family members that are close to him that have severe weight problems (400+ lbs). Dr. Phil says he truly has to work at his weight and fitness 24/7. The first 5 day super foods are cocunut oil, olive oil, green tea, almonds, walnuts, lentils, mustard, apples, chick peas, prunes, greens, natural peanut butter, pistachios, raisins, eggs, non fat yogurt with no artificial sweetners, cod, rye and tofu. The only thing I cannot have on the list is walnuts; I am extremely allegric to walnuts. For dinner I am going to try one of the cod recipes that is on the suggested menu for the first five days. So far, so good; almost through day 1. When I was grocery shopping today, I felt weird only buying what was on the list. I did not have to waste time looking and thinking what to buy or spur of the moment foods. I actually saved money and time, but I still had the craving to look at the ice cream and walking through the bakery area was very hard. I stopped and looked at the cakes and muffins, but I remnded myself and looked into my cart of the new me that will eventually come. I am very tired of always getting out of breath and sweaty when I should not be, when I am running errands or on long shopping trips. These thoughts then ramble into, I do not want to be diabetic anylonger. I want to be off blood pressure medication and diabetic medication. I can do this, I want my sexy groove back! |
